The La Grande Farmers' Market will be held this Saturday from 9AM - 12PM at Max Square in Downtown La Grande, and on Tuesdays from 4PM - 6PM. Enjoy fresh local produce, baked goods, arts, crafts, live music, and more.

Rare historic photographs of the Columbia River Gorge will be featured at free public programs at branches of the Baker County Library District, July 30th - 31st. Author John Laursen will present photographs at the Halfway Library on Friday, July 30th at 6:30PM, and then at the Baker County Public Library in Baker City on Saturday, July 31st at 6PM. The events will celebrate the success of the book "Wild Beauty: Photographs of the Columbia River Gorge 1867-1957." All ages are welcome to attend. The Family History Center is sponsoring a class on how to maneuver in Ancestry.com, presented by Sherri McDonald. This class will be held Friday, 1PM at the Family History Center located at 2504 N. The Cove-Union-Imbler 2011 Philly Group will be having a car wash this Saturday, at the Grocery Outlet's parking lot from 10AM - 2PM. Come support the local 8th graders as they raise money for their Philadelphia trip.

Its that time of the year again when Oregon High School's finest football players from all over the state compete to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals. The annual East-West Shrine game in Baker City is set for this Saturday beginning with breakfast in Geiser-Pollman Park from 6:30AM - 10AM, followed by the Shrine Parade through downtown at 10AM. Pre-Game pageantry begins at 11:30AM with the Kickoff at 12:30PM at the Baker High School Football Stadium. General Admission tickets are available from any Shriner or at the Baker County Chamber of Commerce for $10. Reserved seating tickets are available at the Sycamore Tree and Kicks Sportswear for $12. The 2010 Run for Their Lives event is set for Saturday at the Geiser-Pollman Park gazebo. Registration for the 5K or 10K run or walk is at 7AM and the race begins at 7:30AM. The cost for pre-registered runners is $15 and race-day runners is $20. Proceeds benefit the Shriners Hospital. For more information and to register contact Blake at 541-523-8888.

The Baker County Running Club will be having regular group runs starting at 8AM on Saturday. They will be meeting at the Baker City Sports Complex parking lot. Runners of all experience levels are welcome. This is a great way to start your weekend and get connected with fellow runners in Baker County. Please bring your own water and a sense of adventure. Service runs Monday through Thursday from 7:30AM - 7PM, Fridays from 7:30AM - 9PM, and Saturdays from 10AM - 9PM. Everyone is welcome to ride the Trolley. The Union County Sheriff's Office will be offering a concealed handgun class on Saturday, starting at 8AM. Class will be held at the Miesner Conference Room located at 1001 4th Street in La Grande. Join the Pinochle Social Club at the Union County Senior Center each week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesday afternoons the club meets at 12:30PM, and each Friday evening at 7PM. Dues are just $2 for the year, with a weekly fee of only 50 cents for Friday evening. Tuesday afternoons are free. Come down to the Union County Senior Center at 1504 Albany St. in La Grande to learn how to play, refresh your skills, or just to enjoy a good time. 18 and older please.

Bring your lunch, a blanket or lawn chair, relax under the shade of the trees and enjoy the cool river breeze while listening to live music in the park every Sunday for the Powder River Music Review weekly concert series. This week's artist is Frank Carlson singing rock-and-roll from the sixties. The concert is from 1PM - 3PM at Geiser Pollman Park in Baker City. The event is presented to raise funds to build a bandstand pavilion in the park. Donations are accepted and engraved bricks can be purchased from Soroptimist International of Baker County.

Its National Night Out in Baker City on Tuesday, August 3rd. The community is invited to gather with police, emergency personnel, service groups, non-profit organizations and community help organizations for FREE hot dogs, hamburgers, fun, games, entertainment and information. This is a chance for members of the community to meet and enjoy an evening with those who provide so many services in the Baker City area. EOU theatre presents "The Importance of Being Earnest." A satire of Victorian social hypocrisy, the witty play is considered Oscar Wilde's greatest dramatic achievement.
